Change a Life - Save a Pet
The Kankakee County Humane Foundation (KCHF) is a 501(c) (3) non- profit organization that is a no-kill animal shelter. Since 1963 the Foundation has rescued unwanted, neglected and abandoned dogs and cats in the Kankakee County area.
You Can Donate to Help
We operate as a non-profit, no kill shelter, foster, and adoption agency for dogs and cats. The Foundation is entirely dependent on memberships and private donations and does not receive any tax revenue or public funds. Your kind and generous gift can help us continue our important work.
Every Pet Needs a Home - Adopt or Foster
There isn't any way we can shelter all of the pets in our area who need help. Please consider offering your home to adopt or foster a cat or dog. The Foundation home fosters our puppies, kittens, some dogs and cats exposing them to in-home living, manners and socialization. Of course the goal for every pet we serve is to help them find their FURever home! Please - join us!
You Can Help - Volunteer
The life blood of any non-profit is its volunteers. The gift of your time can be a high or as flexible as you would like, and we have all kinds of positions available. We would love to have to have you join us!
Go Cubs Go, Go Cubs Go, Hey Chicago Whaddaya say?! Okay, so the Cubs may not have taken over post-season like we all hoped, but that doesn't make me love my Cubbies any less! That being said, my name is Russell, yanno, like Addison Russell?! I'm a 1 year old, male, lab mix who just can't get enough attention from all the friends I've met so far at KCHF! My staff buddies here think I'll be great with other dogs because I've got such a fun personality. I would love a home with kids, or at least an active home, because I'm such a happy boy who loves to play and be silly! Stop by the shelter to meet me and fill out an application while you're there!

Kankakee County Humane Foundation Shoes For Pets

We're kicking off a new, out of the box fundraiser, and we're hoping with your help, it can be successful!

We are collecting new/gently worn shoes! Yes, look down, those shoes on your feet! We are collecting them here at the shelter, as well partnering with St. Anne Grade School, Bradley West, and Bradley Central's Student Councils for additional collection sites! You simply go through the bottom of your closet where all those old shoes keep piling up and drop them in a box!

Are you a business owner, or know of a great place to add as a collection site? Shoot us an email! We'd love to expand out!

Our goal is 100 bags of shoes, which would earn us $1,000! Each 'bag' is 25 pairs of shoes. It's quite the goal, but with all the help and supporters that we have, we think it'll be a piece of cake!

Where do the shoes go? The shoes collected are used to support micro-enterprise vendors. Micro-enterprises are small businesses in developing nations. They are typically operated by one person or family and friends, depending on size. This then helps these families get out of poverty and provide for their family!
